I sit on the committee for the UK Colour Pencil Society (UKCPS) and each month we give the members a drawing challenge to get involved in. October 2024 was my turn, so I challenged them to draw a geometric pumpkin and then get creative with decorating it. In order to help them along, I made four videos. The first three are hosted on the UKCPS YouTube Channel with the fourth one being on my very own YouTube Channel.
The first video explains how to use geometry to derive the pumpkin outline: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHVoxW8JTfs
The second demonstrates how to use the geometry to create a Spiral Pumpkin in colour pencil: https://youtu.be/RqqjdQNCAHg
The third video shows how to use watercolour pencils both wet and dry to create an Ombre Pumpkin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nd_euX_EMgk
The fourth video demonstrates how to use Jackman’s Crystalline Watercolours to create a Tie-dye Pumpkin: https://youtu.be/-HIfjqGRBbw
I really hope you’ll give these tutorials a go and I would love to see if you do.
